So far this week I have been enjoying a range of different raw food recipes, it is actually quite surprising how tasty different foods are together, especially when you would never have thought to have put them together or use the foods in such a way, for example using a vegetable peeler to make linguine pasta out of courgettes – seriously – I know that may sound very strange but it's great and without the bloated feeling afterwards, fab.

I've even managed to get my husband to try some variations in his salad as well, he was very much a man of Iceberg Lettuce and cucumber, last night he had spinach, sunflower seeds, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and some cashew nuts – although he wasn't too impressed by the cashew nuts Smile. If you eat things individually then you get the individual taste of that particular fruit or veg, but mix a variety together and the flavours you get are truly amazing (obviously only if you get the mix right – can be a bit of a disaster if you're not careful Laughing).

What I love about raw food meals, is you're getting an extremely tasty meal, with lots and lots of goodness, and prepared in about half the time it would take you to cook a full blown meal. Raw foods traditionally has been more for vegans, I'm not going completely raw I still have animal products within my meals, whether that's some milk during the day or a bit of cheese or meat with my main meal, mainly because that's what I enjoy, but I make sure that at least 2 of meals in a day are completely raw, and I feel fab.

So you may be asking yourselves, why raw foods. When you cook food you are actually taking out a lot of the goodness in it, think about it if you're boiling/steaming/frying foods in order to "cook" it, something has to come out in order for it to change. The problem is it's all the richness and goodness that is in the food that gets removed. This is even the case for meats and fish, hence why Sushi is seen as being so good for you. Now there are obviously some meats that you have to cook all the way through, e.g. chicken, so don't eat those raw, but try to not burn your food or over-cook it as that means you're eliminating the goodness.

I can seriously vouch for not cooking your fruit and veg, and eating organic fruit and veg, even try to get organic meat, I appreciate it is more expensive and at times you can't get organic products, so don't worry if you can't but just as a rule if you can go for organic. I have felt great by eating raw, it sounds silly but my hair feels fuller and looks a lot healthier, I've had more people comment on my hair and how good it looks in the past 3 weeks than I have in the past 2 years and I put part of that down to being a lot more healthy with my food.

It's not an easy thing to change and I still have days when I'm not so good on the healthy food side, but do you know what that's OK because the majority of time I am. Your health is extremely important especially if you're caring for someone, you need to have your energy constantly renewed and re-stored and what a simple way to do it by eating raw, plus it only takes minutes to make a meal, so it's not as though you have to set aside an hour just to prepare a meal. It all makes sense. By eating raw you are also giving yourself more time to spend time on YOU, so you may have a half hour to yourself, that's great, do yourself a quick raw meal, eat it and then spend the next 15 minutes doing something you enjoy, whether that's reading, meditating, shopping on-line, whatever it may be, take time out for YOU and only YOU.

If you would like some more information on raw foods there are lots of websites out there, just do a Google search, below are a couple of links.
