Well tomorrow is the big day for Prince William and Kate Middleton and I for one am very excited about it. I think the wedding is a great thing for the UK economy and also something that we should all be proud of.

I seem to have had lots of debates recently with people over the wedding because it annoys me how people have been “bashing” it and saying that why is it such a big thing etc… etc… everyone is entitled to their own opinion but don’t have a go at something that is a very special day for 2 people. Yes it’s going to be publicized on TV, yes people will turn up in their droves to see the couple get married, and yes I appreciate that wouldn’t normally happen at anyone else’s wedding (well it might you never know J) but at the end of the day 2 people are declaring their love for each other and making a lifelong commitment and I for feel privileged that they have decided to share that with the whole country – maybe they didn’t really have a choice but they did choose a Friday to have their wedding so that the majority of us can have a day off of work – come on surely even if that’s all you applaud them for it’s worth a thank you and not a constant moan about it?????

Anyway that’s my little rant over, now to the point of the blog. As some of you may have seen, read, heard Kate Middleton has lost some weight and, as if she didn’t before, has a lovely slim figure for her big day, excellent. The thing that annoys me is all the speculation over whether she has followed a particular diet, there are some rumors but nothing has been confirmed. I have to say that I actually hate the word “diet” whenever I’ve tried to follow a particular diet or say I’m on a diet, it never works for me and I always “fall off” end up hating myself for not being strict with it and then it spirals into me eating lots of chocolate and not actually getting anywhere.

Therefore I have decided to eat healthily as you all know from following my blog (thank you for following as well J). So what I want to know is why do people brand it as a “diet” and why can’t someone come out and say as long as you eat healthily, exercise and have the “naughty” things in moderation you will lose weight if you need to and be fit and…. you guessed it… healthy.

So I’d like to start a revolution lets scrap the diets and eat healthily, lets accept that there are occasions when you can’t be “good”, that’s just life, but as long as you are good 80 – 90% of the time that’s all good.

I’ve been working with Polly Noble on raw foods, and I’ve really been enjoying eating raw foods and feel energised, fitter and healthier by doing it, I have however amended it slightly in that I do have some meat with my main meal and that’s mainly because I like it, but all my veggies etc… I eat raw. Everyone is different and you just have to adapt what you eat to fit in with: -

  1. your lifestyle
  2. your likes and dislikes with foods and
  3. where you source your food from and how you get it

If you can it is best to eat organic foods, now I don’t have time to go to the supermarket, so I use Abel and Cole. Abel and Cole is great for me because it’s all organic veg and meats, I can select how often I want a particular food, e.g. weekly, fortnightly, just 1 order (if you’re trying something new) and they deliver it to my door every Wednesday morning, so I know when I’m receiving it and can plan our meals around that. If I’m not in for any reason then provided I’ve put it as an instruction, they will leave the food in my garden for me. It’s also worked out cheaper than buying organic foods through some of the bigger supermarkets.

But like I said everything is personal to you, so do what works best for you and just be healthy.

If anyone has any thoughts on this then please do get in touch, I’m always open to ideas, views etc… but I would highly recommend taking a look at Polly’s website – www.pollynoble.com - and having a browse as to what she has to say and also try out some of the free recipe’s, you will not be disappointed.

Take care

Gem x
